Due to the ongoing situation of COVID-19, I have moved back to my hometown of San Clemente, CA. I am going to continue my blog of cheap restaurants to eat at based on my memory because many places are closed. I have been going to these restaurants for many years now and I feel confident I will give a well-detailed blog post.
Pedro’s Tacos has been my favorite Mexican restaurant ever since the first time I tried it. It is a small building on the corner of El Camino Real (The main street in San Clemente) that offers a drive-through, as well as a walk-up window to order. The restaurant really embraces the surf culture that is present in San Clemente. The menu is written on an only Dewey Weber surfboard. Dewey Weber was a surfboard shaper who influenced many surfers in San Clemente through the eighties and nineties. It is very fitting that they used a Dewey Weber surfboard. The restaurant itself has a very cool aesthetic to it. It is a beige building that is outlined with light blue paint, along with the many palm trees that surround it.
Now onto the food! Pedro’s offer a very wide variety of Mexican food choices. They are famous for their fish tacos, but I am not a big fish eater, so I usually get a burrito or tacos. I usually switch off between three burritos and sometimes i will add a taco to my order if I am really hungry. My top three favorite burritos are: bean/cheese/potato burrito, carne asada, or the California burrito. The two meat choices include homemade guacamole and salsa. The meat is quality and cooked to the perfect level of juicy and salty. The tacos are also extraordinary. My favorite is the fried chicken taco. It comes topped with cabbage, pico de gallo, and a special creamy sauce that tops it off.
I hope you enjoy my food choices in San Clemente!
